Running Reframed: June 2026

June 2026 Newsletter | Edition #5

A monthly newsletter on running, consistency, and self-discovery.

Welcome to Running Reframed! Here, we focus on progress over perfection, building strong habits, and connecting with yourself through running. I’m so glad you’re joining us this month.

Monthly Reflection

If you have been following our journey, you know that in the April newsletter I shared my experience completing my seventh official half marathon in Connecticut and how I am now transitioning fully into marathon training.

I thought this would be a good time to reflect on my journey so far.

Throughout my life (especially my adult life) running has always been there in some shape or form. There have been seasons where it took a backseat, but it never fully left.

The half marathon distance has always had a special place in my heart. I believe it is one of the best races to train for because it demands consistency without consuming your entire life. For a long time, I never imagined myself training for a marathon. And yet, here I am, just shy of 20 weeks out from race day, with my longest run so far sitting right around 12 miles.

Here is the thing about being in the middle of a training cycle: it is easy to get lost in it.

Over analyzing the workout that did not go as planned.

The day it felt like all your progress had been erased.

The creeping doubt that asks whether any of this is actually working.

Those thoughts will show up. They always do. But here is what I want you to remember when those thoughts show up at your door. Do not invite them in. Acknowledge them, but do not let them take up space. This is not something that happens overnight. It takes practice. And one of the most powerful tools we have is the power of reflection.

When we look back at how far we have come, it creates perspective. The path forward is rarely linear. There will be hills and yes sometimes even mountains. But it’s important to remember, we have climbed and conquered before and we will do so again.

Ask yourself:

Why did you start running in the first place?

What about it still excites you?

Why do you keep coming back?

Returning to your why can be the exact thing that creates momentum when forward motion feels challenging.

This month, I encourage you to look back as often as you look ahead. We get so focused on the finish line, the result, the race, and the outcome that we forget to honor the ground we have already covered. The journey is not the obstacle. The journey is the whole point.

Looking Ahead

Training cycles are deepening, mileage is building, and the work is starting to feel real. For those of us in longer training blocks, this is often the stretch where doubt can creep in alongside the fatigue.

This month, resist the urge to constantly measure where you are against where you think you should be. Instead, focus on showing up time and time again. Each run you complete is a deposit. You may not feel it yet, but the account is growing and the work is compounding.

Trust the process, not because it is a cliché, but because the output of your very own effort backs it up. Look back at where you started. The evidence is already there.

Coaching Tip of the Month

This month I encourage you to keep a running log.

Whether it is in your notes app, a journal, or Strava, write something down after your runs. Don't just focus on the data, really think about the feelings encountered before, during and after your run.

Was it hard?

Surprisingly good?

How did your body respond?

Did you push through something mentally?

Is this something that feels repeatable and sustainable?

Over time, your log becomes a record of resiliency. On the days doubt creeps in, go back and read it. You will find proof that you’ve done hard things before, you’ve had bad weeks and bounced back and you’ve shown up when you did not feel like it.

Your log is not just a training tool. It’s a reminder of who you are as a runner.

Monthly Challenge

This month, I challenge you to write it down.

After each run this week, take 60 seconds to jot down one sentence about how it felt. Not your pace. Not your mileage. Just how YOU felt.

At the end of the month, read back through it. Notice the range. Notice the resiliency. Notice how many times you showed up even when it was hard.

Bonus: share a reflection, a proud moment, a breakthrough, or even a tough week you pushed through with us on social media or in the Strava Run Club.

We want to hear your story and support you on your journey!
