  • Yes, in fact, beginners often benefit the most from working with a running coach.

At Wayfinder Running Co., many of our athletes start with little to no running experience. You don’t need to be fast, experienced, or training for a race to work with a coach. You just need a willingness to start where you are.

A running coach helps beginners by:

    • Creating a personalized plan that fits your current fitness level

    • Teaching you how to run safely and sustainably (without burnout or injury)

    • Removing the guesswork around pacing, rest days, and progression

    • Building confidence through structure, accountability, and support

Instead of following a generic plan or pushing too hard too soon, beginner runners benefit from guidance that prioritizes consistency, recovery, and long-term progress.

Our coaching approach is human-centered and flexible. Whether you’re:

    • Brand new to running

    • Returning after a long break

    • Transitioning from walk/run intervals to continuous running

We meet you where you are and help you move forward at a pace that feels challenging and sustainable.

If your goal is to feel stronger, more confident, and more consistent as a runner working with a running coach as a beginner can make the journey far more enjoyable and successful.
