March 2026 Newsletter | Edition #2
Running Reframed
A monthly newsletter on running, consistency, and self-discovery.
Welcome to Running Reframed! Here, we focus on progress over perfection, building strong habits, and connecting with yourself through running. I’m so glad you’re joining us this month.
Monthly Reflection
February certainly brought some unexpected weather. That alone teaches us something. Progress is not linear. Just when we think we are moving forward, conditions shift.
But spring is right around the corner. Can you feel it? The days are getting longer. The sunlight is returning. There is energy in that.
Last month we focused on building consistency, patience, and resiliency. We laid the foundation. We built habits. Now it is time to continue the work and build upon that base. Growth does not happen by staying where we are. It happens when we expand our mindset and our abilities.
As individuals and athletes, we cannot live in our comfort zone and expect to grow. Comfort maintains. Challenge transforms.
I am currently training for two races this year, a half marathon in March and a marathon in October. Recently I had a long run scheduled and intentionally added hills mid-route. Not because I love hills, but because I wanted to challenge myself. I know that hills, especially in the middle of a run, will make me a stronger, more resilient runner. I also know my half marathon course has rolling hills mid-race, so this is preparation.
Growth requires intention.
Living in your comfort zone does not produce results. Progress lives on the other side of discomfort. Have you ever noticed that the things you resist most often end up being the most rewarding once completed?
Let fear ignite you instead of stopping you.
One of my favorite sayings is audere est facere — to dare is to do. It is a reminder that growth does not happen in comfort. It happens when we choose to lean into challenges and move forward even when the path feels uncertain.
For runners, this is lived daily. Whether you are taking your first steps or training for a new distance, you are daring. You are choosing effort. You are choosing courage. You are choosing to meet yourself where you are and move forward.
Your journey does not require perfection. It does not require speed or experience. It requires one thing: the decision to dare.
Let’s create a stronger version of ourselves this season.
Looking Ahead
As we move into March, the energy begins to shift. Training cycles start to sharpen. Races appear on the calendar. Goals feel closer.
This is the season to build on your foundation.
If winter was about consistency, spring is about intention. It is about taking the habits you built and adding purposeful challenges. That might mean introducing structured workouts, extending your long run, or leaning into terrain that tests you.
Do not rush the process. Strength is built gradually. Layer by layer. Step by step.
Choose one area where you can stretch yourself this month. Not to prove anything, but to grow. Let discomfort become familiar. Let it teach you.
You are more capable than you think.
Coaching Tip of the Month
Growth should be intentional, not overwhelming.
Add one controlled challenge to your week. Just one.
It could be hills. It could be strides. It could be finishing your last mile with focus instead of easing off. The key is consistency. Repeat it weekly and allow your body and mind to adapt.
You do not need to overhaul your training to improve. You need small, deliberate stress applied consistently.
Challenge creates strength. Repetition builds confidence.
Monthly Challenge
This month’s challenge looks a little different.
Choose one element that makes you slightly uncomfortable and add it into your training once per week. Maybe that’s hills. Maybe it’s speed work. Maybe it’s running without music. Keep it simple and repeatable.
Growth does not require extremes. It requires intention.
